Events abroad in the week of 18 to 25 October
Each row answers one question: what happened elsewhere, and how it lands here through shipping lanes, energy imports, export demand, supply chains, or citizens in the region.

Ranked by status, then by last updateEvent log
Newest first
How the status is set. Each row gets a magnitude (1 to 4, how big the event is on its own) and a
proximity (1 to 3, how far it sits from Indonesian interests); the two are added. Low = 2 to 4:
a real event with no path to Indonesia yet. Medium = 5: it touches an Indonesian interest.
High = 6 or 7: it affects Indonesian territory, citizens, or a main shipping lane, and it needs
two separate outlets before it can stay there.

How a row is scored
Two scores from the reading model, added. Magnitude rates the event on its own terms, the same way for any observer. Proximity rates the impact path into Indonesia. 2–4 low, 5 medium, 6–7 high. An event rated high on a single outlet is held at medium until a second outlet reports it.
Reading the status
- High means closest to Indonesian interests, not the worst conflict in the world.
- Seven days without new reporting adds a quiet note. The status does not fall.
- Thirty days without new reporting moves the event to the archive. Nothing this week qualifies, so the archive tab is empty.
Limits
- Zones with thin coverage look quiet even when they are not.
- Zone list, source list and search strings are fixed, reviewed twice a year.
- Figures come from 568 articles collected between 18 and 25 October.
